Optical Bonding vs. Tape Bonding – What's the Difference?

When it comes to LCD display modules, the bonding method between the touch panel and the display plays a crucial role in performance and durability.

Optical Bonding
A clear adhesive (such as OCR or OCA) is used to fill the air gap between the touch screen and LCD. This improves sunlight readability, enhances durability, reduces reflection, and prevents dust/moisture from entering.

Tape Bonding (Air Bonding)
In this method, the touch panel is attached to the display using double-sided adhesive only around the edges, leaving a thin air gap in the middle. It's cost-effective and widely used in applications where optical clarity is not critical.

Choosing the right bonding method depends on your product's application needs – outdoor visibility, rugged use, or budget constraints.
